Vivien Walters Animal Artist Devon based artist specialising in
animals in oil and pastel

Welcome to my website, and to my collection of paintings inspired by my love of animals and the natural world.  I am a professional artist living in rural Devon between the Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks - the Country of the Two Rivers made famous by Henry Williamson in his book "Tarka the Otter".  I work mainly in oil and pastel, and many of my paintings feature the livestock and wildlife of this region.

A selection of my original paintings is currently available through a number of leading galleries in the UK, including most recently the Steam Gallery at Beer and the Salar Gallery in Hatherleigh, Devon.  Some of my more recent sales can be seen on my Archive Gallery page.  I have also successfully exhibited at the National Exhibition of Wildlife Art and I will be submitting further pieces for this year's exhibition.  More details will be posted on this site a little nearer the time.

My range of open and limited edition prints is being gradually expanded as time - and inspiration - permit.  The latest  addition, "Something Stirred", features the rare Scottish wildcat.  It is thought that only around 35 true examples of this highly endangered species are left in the wild.  To help the wildcats I will be donating 33% of the proceeds of the sale of this print to Wildcat Haven, a conservation project dedicated to providing a safe haven for the wildcats in the West Highlands of Scotland.  Full details can be found on my Prints page, while a further range of limited edition prints is available through Buckingham Fine Art Publishers.

Bespoke quality portraits of that special four legged friend can be commissioned in oil or pastel, to include a photographic session if required.  Please refer to my Commissions page for further details.

Although I have greatly enjoyed the courses which I have run in my country home near Torrington and which attracted artists from all over the UK and Europe, unfortunately my time for these is now very limited.  I am available for private tuition by appointment, and I can also offer a consultancy service by e-mail, along with a range of e-workshops.  Please have a look at my Tuition and E-mail Tuition pages if you are an artist who would be interested.
